Presenter:  Idaho Falls Robotics team “Ammoknights Team #1566”

Presentation Title: FIRST Robotics in Southeastern Idaho

Abstract:

The Idaho Falls Robotics team “The Ammoknights” Team 1566 was started during the 2004-05 school year at Hillcrest High School.  Participating students were from three of the area schools, Idaho Falls, Bonneville and Hillcrest High.  We were working under a GK-12, National Science Foundation Grant from Idaho State University.  The first year there were only two teams from Idaho.  Idaho Falls, and Pocatello.  We competed at the Northwest Regional Competition in Portland, Oregon.  Our team received the “Highest Rookie Seed” out of a total of 39 teams present.  

The FIRST Robotics program in Idaho grew by leaps the second year from two to eight.  The teams come from South Fremont, Sugar City, Rexburg, Rigby, Shelley, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello with one team from Meridian.  The teams represented the state well as six of the eight made it to the finals, with the Shelley High School being part of the winning alliance.  This then qualified them for the Nationals in Atlanta, Ga.  

We are hoping to continue to add new schools to the program with the goal of a Regional in Idaho or Utah.

With the construction we would suggest that you come to the school by way of Sunnyside Road and enter the school from the main entrance. (the east side)

There will be directions to the cafeteria as you enter the building.
